Update: We have a winner?

We finally found matching costumes for the kids that Logan actually approved. Laney could care less but Logan had a lot of ideas for his costume. At first he wanted to be Toto from the Wizard of Oz. Obviously, they do not make this costume since Toto is always the stuffed dog in the basket. Then he wanted to be Pongo from 101 Dalmations. For some reason I could not find this costume either so as he was watching the Hogs get pushed around on the football field Saturday, he decided he wanted to be a football player. Great, we can handle this so he will be a Razorback football player and Laney will be the cheerleader. She is very excited about the pom poms. Stay tuned for pictures...

In other news continue to pray for our new Sunday School. We are trying to build a college & career program at our church. It is a challenge to encourage this group to attend Sunday School when sleeping in is so tempting. Most of them also have crazy work schedules as well. We only had one show up this week but we were so grateful that the one made the effort and commitment to attend.

Halloween Costume Ideas

I am needing some costume ideas for Logan and Laney. I am struggling this year to come up with a theme. Logan really wants to do his own thing. Laney would look adorable in the little babyish costumes but most of them only go up to a 12 or 24 month. She needs 2T-3T so I am asking my wonderful blog readers to help me. I have attached a photo from last year to inspire you.

Where were You?

Today is a day that we remember what happened 09/11/01. It does not seem like it was seven years ago. I still remember exactly where I was that day. My 7:30 Economics class had been canceled that day. I walked back to my dorm hall where I had left my TV on the Today Show. I can still see the scene on tv and the silent reporters as they had no idea what was going on. The rest of the day we were glued to the TV. Classes were canceled. We joined a large group that night at the greek theater for prayer. Life has been different since that day. We learned that we are never totally safe. For me I put a greater trust in God since man alone can't protect us from the crazy people in our world.

I hope today we will set aside our differences and remember what it is to be an American. We should unite in our fight against the terrorists that spread hate.

All about Me...Laney 19 months

Favorite Song: Twinkle Little Star
Favorite Word(s): No, shoes, and I do.
Favorite activity: Reading aloud and I do mean LOUD.
Favorite color: Yellow
Favorite animal: Duck
Favorite Toy: Daisy duck and her baby buggy.
Favorite chore: Wiping off the table with a washcloth

What she has learned: Several words and phrases including some animal sounds. One color yellow. She is learning how to follow directions and complete simple tasks.

What we are working on: Introduction to the potty. She loves sitting on the little potty and has not quite figured out what she is supposed to do. That is okay. We are early yet for this skill. We are working on coloring skills and introducing new colors. She loves to make things with Play dough.

All about me...Logan 3 1/2

I hope you guys will bare with me through the next few posts. I use this blog partly as an online journal/baby book so every once in a while I like to post things about the kids that I want to remember. This first one is for Logan at age 3 1/2.

Favorite animal: Puppy dogs especially Dalmations
Favorite Toy: Thomas the Train and Spot (stuffed dog)
Favorite Song: "Jesus loves me" and "Hush little Baby"
Favorite Color: He tells Daddy blue but it is really pink
Best Friends: P.J., Bryanna, and Leightyn
What I have learned: Logan can count to fifteen most of the time. He knows all of his colors and shapes.
What we are working on? : Alphabet, reading, and coloring in the lines

Logan is enrolled in swimming lessons for the first time. He is so brave. We ended up in a class with much older children. They all basically know how to swim. Logan is a true beginner. He hasn't figured out how to work his arms and legs at the same time and keeps his head high above water. Despite all of this he holds his head high when he finishes his turn and smiles. He is so proud and his mommy is too.

Yearbook Yourself

I know you guys are surprised by two posts in one day but I had to share this one. I saw this on another friend's blog. This is quite entertaining. http://www.yearbookyourself.com/. This is my yearbook photo from 1994, 1974, and 1960.

Texas

We had a wonderful time visiting with our Texas relatives this past weekend. I got to visit with the 3 newest members of our family. Caylin, Colby, and Bethani are beautiful! It is amazing how quickly you forget just how small babies can be. Laney is only 19 months old but it seems so long ago when she was that small.

Logan and Laney loved the farm. They played in the dirt, rode the "rhino", and visited the cows. Laney was very friendly and made sure she greeted each cow with a wave and "hi cow." She is working on her Texas drawl.

After the long trip home, we all crashed. I spent the rest of the holiday digging out of the mountains of laundry. I hope everyone else enjoyed their holiday as well.
